October 2025 Art Prompt: Fall Daily Drawing Ideas

Fall is soon approaching, and October is always one of my favourite months to dive into creative projects. Between the cozy autumn vibes, the changing leaves, and of course all the classic Halloween fun, there’s endless inspiration to work with. That’s why I’ve put together a brand new October 2025 Daily Art Prompt List!

This list is designed for anyone who wants a little nudge to draw every day, whether you’re looking to build a daily creative habit, practice repeatable pattern design, or simply want a fun way to celebrate the season. This year is different for me personally - on top of needing the little extra nudge to encourage me to draw, I am also trying to find balance in my life between new parenthood, self-care and personal projects. One of the things I love about art prompts is that it takes the thinking out of what to draw each day - your topic is already picked for you! Since everything is a bit of a time crunch for me nowadays, pre-prepped prompts are exactly what I need. The prompts are short and simple — think pumpkins, cozy sweaters, black cats, and other pattern-friendly themes — so you can create something in just a few minutes each day.

Just like my previous challenges, I’ve kept the prompts open-ended. You can sketch, paint, illustrate digitally, or even turn them into surface pattern designs for print-on-demand shops. The idea is to spark inspiration without being overwhelming.

For those looking to explore new colour palettes, Colour Collective posts a new single colour to work with every week! You'll try out new colours you might not have explored, plus you will discover other artists in this social colour prompt journey! Share your posts with #colour_collective

2. @inktober - Instagram
A yearly October tradition! Every year a new art prompt is created for #inktober - a 31 day daily drawing challenge. Possibly the biggest instagram art prompt event around, inktober has amassed over 1.2 million followers on instagram - to give you an idea of just how far reaching this art prompt is for artists and art appreciators. Share your drawings created with the Inktober prompt with #inktober and #inktober2025!

3. Spoonflower Art Challenge Prompts
If you're a print-on-demand pattern designer or fabric purchaser, then you're probably no stranger to Spoonflower! Every 2 weeks Spoonflower hosts a challenge with their artist community. They will post a new art prompt, and you design your latest pattern around it. I love these prompts because they are usually centered around seasonal, niche topics - often giving you topics that you might not have explored otherwise. You also get 2 weeks to work on each prompt, giving you more time to finish a polished piece. Last but not least, if you're a Spoonflower member, the added benefit of seeing how your entry stacks up against other artists is a welcome challenge!
